Steps to Shipping a Frozen Pet Overnight
-
Fill Out the Contact Form
Complete the Contact Form at the bottom of the page. Please include the following details: name, breed, and age; how the deceased passed (illness, injury, old age); how long ago the deceased passed and how they have been stored; and which service(s) you require. I will reach out to you with shipping details. -
Keep the Pet Frozen
Do not allow the animal to thaw at any point before shipping. Keep in a deep freezer until you are ready to pack and ship. -
Prepare the Pet for Shipping
Place the pet in a sealed plastic bag, removing as much air as possible. Double-bag to prevent leakage. For birds or animals with delicate feathers or fur, wrap gently in plastic wrap first to protect them during transit. Tuck legs and tail close to the body to reduce bulk and prevent breakage. -
Pack with Insulating Materials
Use multiple frozen gel packs surrounding the pet to help maintain a cold temperature throughout transit. Additionally, wrap the bagged pet in several layers of insulating foam sheets or thick bubble wrap before placing in the box. This slows heat transfer and helps keep the pet cold throughout the journey. -
Choose the Right Box
Use a sturdy styrofoam-insulated shipping box placed inside a strong cardboard outer box. Seal all seams thoroughly with heavy packing tape. The thicker the styrofoam walls, the better — aim for at least 1.5 inches to maximize insulation and keep your pet cold throughout the journey. -
Label Correctly
Mark the package clearly with "Perishable — Keep Frozen." Include your return address and our address clearly on the outside. -
Choose an Overnight Carrier
Use FedEx, UPS, or Purolator. Ship Monday through Wednesday only to avoid the package sitting in a depot over the weekend. Avoid shipping before long weekends or holidays. -
Notify Us
Send your tracking number immediately so we can plan to receive the package. Include a note inside the box with your contact info and any special instructions.
